2013 Card....

Can you believe 2013 is just around the corner?
The December kit has just the right elements to create some fabulous New Year's cards.
I used the Polaroid frame backed with some patterned paper and the kraft doily to create a center for the card. I then added a button to the center of the flower and placed the 2013 on the bottom and voila! I have the perfect card for a friend or neighbor.
Hope you have some wonderful plans to ring in the new year!

Versatility

When I looked at the December 2012 Good Tidings kit, my first thought was that it would be great for Christmas photos. I scrapped an 8 x 8 layout for my grandmother using a mix of the traditional and nontraditional colors in the kit. It features a photo of my daughter gazing at our tree after we finished decorating it.

After I finished that page, I kept gravitating toward the beautiful floral print paper in the kit. I hated that I couldn't seem to get it to work with any of my Christmas photos. Eventually I decided that I loved the paper enough to choose a photo based on the paper!

I ended up using a photo of my Mom with all of her granddaughters at a local park. It worked so well with the colors in the floral paper that it made me happy! I added some washi tape, a sticker, and a few more embellishments. I ended up with a layout that looks nothing like a Christmas page.

If you were hesitating to buy the kit because of the Christmas theme, don't hold out any longer. The versatility of the Good Tidings To You kit is remarkable!

Deck the Halls

The December kit is so perfect for those Holiday layouts, and it made it so easy to scrapbook our tree this year.  All I added was some gold glitter paper from my stash, and the rest is from the kit.

Round ~Round

Hi everyone, Nancy here today to share with you a layout I made!  Last week I told you about the newest kit from the Sampler, Good Tidings and how I loved that it was not so "holiday" that I could only use it for one thing.  Today I wanted to share with you a layout I made with the kit using more of the "holiday" elements.

Gorgeous Studio Calico wooden snowflakes, gorgeous sugary thickers, and the most gorgeous glittery ribbon trim highlight these photos of the holiday train that runs under our Christmas Tree.
I did add a bit of ball trim as well as the bakers twine from my stash to finish this project.

Be sure to grab your kit today in the Scrapbooking Supplies r Us store and check out the sketch and card challenges over on the Sampler blog, there are only a few days left to play!

Hugs.

All is Calm, All is Bright...

Happy Friday!
I cannot believe that Christmas is just right around the corner!
I feel like the days are just racing past me at record speeds.
It rained yesterday and was nasty cloudy today so I had to take an indoor photo of my card unfortunately. This card was a fun one to make.
I cut the background paper to fit, misted my kraft doily with a bit of white and then glued the bow, circle punched deer and the washi tape and stickers to the card base.
Those fun dots are just the right touch to end it with!
If you need a quick card I hope I've provided a bit of inspiration today!
Happy Happy Weekend!

Fuzzy Snowflake Tutorial!

hi everybody!  Shaunna here, stopping in to share a quick tutorial with you on how to make a snowflake out of pipe cleaners.  maybe it's been done, but i thought it was too easy to pass up trying - and i ended up with a great embellishment for a page i just created using this month's kit :)

all you need are 3-4 pipe cleaners (depending on the size of your snowflake!  bigger flakes will use more pipe cleaners!)  the snowflake i made for this example works out to about 3" when complete.

i started out by cutting two of the pipe cleaners into four 3" lengths, and then cut six 1" pieces from the remaining pipe cleaners.  (in the photo, it only shows three 1" pieces, this is because i did this tutorial at 2AM and my brain wasn't functioning on all cylinders!)

i took two of the 3" pieces and twisted them together, across once and then back, to form a "T", like this:

next, i formed the arms upward (starting to look like a snowflake!):

i added another 3" piece right underneath the first in the same way, and formed the arms:

finally, i twisted the 1" pieces around the ends of each "arm" and formed them into "V's" as well, to make a simple snowflake shape:

before adding it to my page, i added a pearly white button and a piece of snowflake confetti i had in my stash to give it a little extra something.  i used a pop dot on the confetti to give it more visual interest and dimension.

then i created this page using our December kit, with the snowflake in mind :)

i added one of the Studio Calico dots to the center of the snowflake to finish it off and tie it in with the rest of the page.

i used this sketch from PageMaps (March 2012) to complete my project:

i hope that you liked this tutorial, and that it inspires you to create some snowflakes of your own!  please share in the comments if you do - i would love to see how you use this in your work :)

thanks for coming by today!!

Gift Tags

When I first got my gorgeous December kit, I couldn't wait to dive in and start creating.  I used the kit to make some gift tags.  I had planned on actually using them, but I strung them up to take a picture and liked how it looked so much, I decided to use it as a decoration instead.  Here's what I came up with.

Here are some closeups of each tag.

I have to say, I thought the November kit was my favorite kit ever, but this kit is quickly approaching my number one spot.  I love the mix of Christmas papers, and non-themed products.  Its' a perfect kit!!  If you haven't yet, head on over to SSBRU and pick up your kit, I promise you'll be glad you did!

Good Tidings

Hi everyone!  Nancy here today to share with you a project using the December kit, Good Tidings, from the Sampler.  I love that this kit has just a bit of holiday in it, but not so much that it is only appropriate to holiday photos.

Although these photos were taken while cutting down our tree, the idea of little Santas or snowmen, really wouldn't work.   I promise there are a few of those holiday items to  play with as well as a gorgeous holiday palette.  And of course I threw in a few sequins and buttons from previous kits.  hee hee
For now though, two of my little lovelies.

Don't forget about the sketch and card challenges.  There is still plenty of time to play.  I know with the holidays you may find it hard to make time to play...but give them a go.

Hugs.

Kit Rewind: November

Happy Happy Friday!
I spend last weekend crafting away and I just couldn't bear not using up the majority of my November kit, so I have some projects to share today using the November Kit.

First up:
a birthday card! I used the Silhouette to cut the pattern and then added the cake to the center.

Next:
Go. See. Do. layout.
I cut the circles on the Silhouette and filled in random circles with patterned paper and stickers.

Next some cards:

I hope you have a fabulous weekend and fit in some creative time.
It's been hard for me to fit in but it was so nice to sit and scrap last weekend!

Love you!

Well, I don't have the amazing December kit in my hands yet, but I can't wait to get creating with it!  In the meantime, I have one last layout from the November kit with you.  I just loved that kit, and really enjoyed using it.

A little background on the title, my daughter was doodling the word "love" on our dry erase board one day, and I thought, hmmmm, I'd like to cut that out as my title on my Cameo.  I love how it came out!

Here's a closeup.

I didn't want to put this kit away, but I can't wait to get my hands on the new December kit!  Have a great day!
