Happy Halloween!!

I wanted to stop by and post a quick layout with the October kit on this last day of October. It actually turned out to be one of my favorites this month.

Here are some closeups of the sunburst and title I cut using the cameo.

Sigh, sure wish my baby would actually sleep.

Have a great Wednesday!

Fall Fun

Hi everyone!  Nancy here today to share with you another layout I made with the Warm kit from the Sampler.
(sorry about the funky lighting in the photo...don't know what is going on these days)
Well, lots of gorgeous motifs to fussy cut in this kit and the colors are just gorgeous.  I  love the mix of patterns this month and I know you will to.

There is still lots of time to play along with us at the monthly sketch and card challenges.  You don't need to purchase a kit to play and you have a chance of winning some great prizes!  Be sure and check it out.

Crashing the Sampler

Hi everyone, this is Ainsley, Nancy's youngest daughter, and I am crashing the Sampler blog today with a mini album I made with this month's kit, Warm.

I cut lots of cute shapes and patterns out of the papers and added them to a mini album that I had....
and used lots of foam dots for texture.
I love quilling and couldn't resist adding bits of it here and there to this picture of Dani, Isabella and I.
My friend Lizzy and I are passing an orange...that was a weird game.
More punches and quilling for this photo of Crystal and my crazy hair.
And how cute was I when I was 3.  I loved swimming even then...and I love the custom dyed seam binding in this kit.

This kit was so fun to play with and I had a lot of fun.  I love the papers and the mist with the mask on the back side of my pages can fill the album till I add more photos.  Everyone should share their kit (or buy one special) for their children so they can play too.  I made all this and I am only 11.

Well, I should give my mom back her computer now.

You Are Fabulous Card....

Happy Friday!
Are you loving the October kit? I just can't stop making cards with it!
Everytime I need a card I just whip one up with this kit.

Here's a card a made for a friend in need of a boost:

I cut the pink background on my Silhouette Cameo along with the layered flower. I cut the flower using white and the patterned paper and then misted the white cut out. I love that mist.
I hope you are having a fabulous October and have been inspired by this month's kit, I'm loving everything in this kit, it's my favorite this year!!
Have a wonderful weekend!

this kit is VERSATILE!

hi everyone!  Shaunna here, back to share what i've been working on so far with the October kit!  i can't believe how flexible this kit is and how many different looks you can create with it.  there is a little splash of every color in there everywhere and all the pieces and parts go together so well!

inspired by Holly, i decided to do a 6x12 layout this month... haven't done one in a LONNNG time but i used to love them so much when they were "the thing".  i am really pleased with how this turned out - i think i will add a little more journaling about the day and the location somewhere on the page as well, it looks like it needs that!

i even did a little doodling - another throwback to my style from that time.  this page really makes me think i should go back through my old stuff for some inspiration sometime when i need it - i feel like i had a lot more ideas back then, lol!

the photo is of my stepdaughter at the Water Gardens here in Fort Worth.  if you come to Fort Worth, DEFINITELY DEFINITELY visit the Water Gardens... you can get some of the most spectacular pictures there on any given day!  the place in the picture is actually a giant spiraling waterfall with stairs that descend through it, you can walk all the way to the bottom!!  it's pretty neat!

just for contrast, i'll share my card for the challenge as well:

COMPLETELY different look!  i would never believe that these two projects came from the same kit!  you can really stretch this kit to its limits, so if you haven't picked one up yet then you'd better get on over to Scrapbooking Supplies R Us and grab one - don't forget to check out all the new goodies they've stocked as well, just in time for the holidays!

thank you so much for visiting us today!  please come back soon to see what else we have in store ;)

A card with the October kit

I NEVER make cards.  For some reason, they really intimidate me.  I decided to try to make a card based off the amazing October card sketch, and was surprised at how easy it was.  I added some jute from my stash, but the rest is from the kit.

Don't forget to check out the October challenges, they are great starting points to get creative.

Happy Wednesday!!

September 2012 Challenge Winners

As your official challenge coordinator, I got the honor of choosing the September 2012 challenge winners! I used to pull names and the winners are...

Thank goodness for the random number generator because I would've never been able to choose. Everyone did an amazing job and we really appreciate your participation. Winners, please send your shipping information to holly{AT}scrapbookingsuppliesrus{DOT}com!

Don't forget to check out the October challenges. There's still plenty of time to participate to win a sampling of goodies from The Sampler.

Croquet Anyone?

Hi everyone!  Nancy here today to share with you another project I made with the Warm kit from the Sampler kit club.  I have been enjoying the non-traditional fall colors in this kit so much.  While they have the warm feel of fall, they don't scream pumpkins and Halloween which is nice since not all my photos have to do with those types of events.  Take for example....croquet in the backyard.
(I swear these papers are straight in real life...just can't seem to get a good photo with the rainy weather)
Yes, that is what fall looks like here where I live!  lol

Anyway...a new set of challenges, both card and sketch are up and you don't need to purchase a kit to play along!  International participants are welcome, so be sure to check it out.

Hello Friday

I love Friday!
Today I have a fun card to share with you whipped up from the October kit. I LOVE this kit. It's full of fabulous colors and elements. I used the floral ribbon and brown yarn to add some interest to the left side of the card, and then stamped the Polaroid chipboard for a title. This is an easy card to put together and it can be used for anyone. I love having cards on hand for friends and family.
I'm on a card kick right now, hoping to get inspired to make some layouts soon!
Happy Weekend!

modern "troubles"

Hey ALL! Holly here to share a quick layout I threw together along with a few quick tips that got this layout done super quick!

so here is my lovely husband. he is STUCK to his phone. between work and the occasional recreation, it may as well be integrated into his brain. The only problem is, it is totally my "fault" that he got a "smart" phone... oh well, i love him still and accept the attachments to inanimate objects as they come...

So, this month's kit has loads of little goodies... and I wanted to use a little of everything I could, which I must say was kinda a challenge at this point because I had already made 5 layouts with my kit and kinda getting down to the scraps at this point. So i cut a grid using my cameo and filled in the holes. SO simple and a GREAT use for those scraps that otherwise would have just gotten in my way/crunched up/thrown away...

I've also found that working with a grid template or sketch is a great way to get ideas flowing and spacing issues resolved. sometimes things look just too cramped but a grid always managed to fix it for me.

I did a little stitching to anchor all the windows. Then started adding all the little goodies! Half a hambly sticker, some sequins, chipboard, alpha and the ADORABLE stamp, all included in the October2012 kit! I didnt think i would love that stamp as much as I do, but the squirrel has amazing detail and the "nuts about you" phrase (which could not be any more perfect for my husband and I) was paired along with the squirrel! I stamped the phrase over and over until i filled up that portion of the window and it created a nice balance for the overall layout.

Easy trick to adhering sequins: use the tiniest drop of glossy accents on the back of a sequin, place on project, allow like 2 seconds to dry, VIOLA!

OMG! THE SQUIRREL IS SOOO CUTE! SQUEEEEE! :D ok... I'm better now. thanks.

Davis' seventh month

I really loved the colors in this kit, and they were perfect for Davis' seventh month page in his baby album. I used my Cameo to cut out some hearts and the rest just came together.  I actually finished this layout in a day, which NEVER happens.

Here is a closeup. The journaling tags are perfect for tucking here and there.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great Wednesday!

5 Reasons

Hi everyone!  Nancy here and today I wanted to share with you a project I made with this month's kit, Warm.

I am loving the "do it yourself" Thickers that came in the kit.  Not only are there a ton of alphas, but there are numbers and symbols as well.  And of course I am having fun playing with the sequins, gorgeous Eclectic by Echo Park papers, and October Afternoon chipboard.
Don't forget about the card and sketch challenges that will be closing soon.  You don't need to have a kit to play, and there is a good chance you could win a prize!

Thinking of You Card

I love making cards with my Sampler kits.
Recently one of the beloved substitutes at my school lost his wife to cancer. We wanted to have a card for all to sign so I created this accordion card and decorated the front with punched out hexagons and a flower, button, twine and sentiment.
I love inking the edges of the hexagon and piecing them altogether for a united look.
I hope you are loving the October kit as much as I am. I just might use up every single bit of it :)
Happy Happy Friday!

Good Friends

Can I say one more time how much I ADORE the October kit?  The colors are so trendy and I just love all the extras Holly included in the kit.  Here is another layout I created about my son and his buddies.

And here are a few closeups.

I used the cool 6x6 template and mist in the kit for my background.  I made a makeshift mask so I wouldn't get the hard edges around the template when I sprayed.

Did it turn out perfect? No. I just sprinkled some mist around and went with it. I am so happy with the way it turned out.  Hope you are having a great Wednesday!

Warm Together

Hi everyone!  Nancy here today, sorry I am a little late...I was hoping the sun would come out so I could get better photos, but.....

Anyway, today I wanted to share with you a project I made using the new Warm kit.  The colors and patterns in this kit are just lovely.  Add to that the mist and the mask and super fun sequins...
I know I say this every month, but this has to be my favorite kit yet.
Don't forget about the sketch and card challenges here on The Sampler.  You don't need to have the kit to play for some fabulous prizes and you have a great chance at winning.

A Card for a Friend....

Happy Friday!
Today I am sharing a fun card I made with the October kit!
I love the mist in that kit. I took a flower stamp and some embossing ink and stamped the flowers all over the background of the card. I then poured clear embossing powder over it all, tapped all the excess off and heated it up until I saw all my flowers come through melted.
Next, I misted the card and blotted off the mist so the flowers show up clearly.
I then added the inked edged newsprint square, and the chipboard elements.
It's a great card to have on hand to send to a friend.
I hope you are loving the October kit as much as I am, it is packed full of so many fun items!!
Happy Friday!

a quick, fun little project!

hi all!  Shaunna again, and this week i want to share a fun little project with you that i have gotten hooked on recently.  i decided to make one to wrap up the September kit and show off the technique for you if you haven't seen it already.

it's a cute little photo wallet with hidden pockets!!!  i really love this design - it only takes about 5 minutes or so to assemble (and then whatever time you spend embellishing it) and it would make a really great little gift for someone you don't know what else to give.  this one is actually making it's way to my husband's grandmother for her birthday, after i stuff it full of pics :)

the original idea is not mine, however, i was inspired by this video from stampingholly on YouTube:

it's so simple and addicting (to be honest!)  we even made one of these for a photo project that accompanied an essay we recently did in our homeschool English class, and it was so easy that even my 13-year old stepdaughter enjoyed it.  i have also made several others from random scraps for practice that will eventually turn into nice little projects as well.  the best part is that you only need ONE sheet of 12x12 to make this, along with any additional scraps or embellishments you'd like to use to snazz it up a bit.

here are a couple more pictures of mine, using The Sampler's September kit "Flying High":

(opposite side)

(opened up)

(back side, with additional pockets)

(front view, with pockets expanded)

(back view, with pockets expanded)

this turned out really great, and will hold six 4 3/4 x 2 3/4 cards, photos, or whatever you like!  this would also be a great gift for someone who collects a lot of business cards or trading cards because they will fit perfectly.  of course, you could always add more than 6 things - there is definitely plenty of room inside all the pockets to squeeze in multiple items.

i hope you enjoy this tutorial as much as i have and that it inspires you to create something fun!  if you haven't stopped by the Scrapbooking Supplies R Us store yet and checked out our new kit, "Warm", get your tail over there and do it!  and buy one while you're there!  it's really an amazing kit full of all sorts of fall goodies and i'm really excited to share my projects from it with you :)

thanks for coming by today, and don't forget to stop by and see what's new each day!

peace, love and stickers -
shaunnaRooskie :)
