So lovely!

I just loved all the bits and pieces in the August kit, and this layout came together quite easily.  I just added some twine and the rest is from the kit.

A quick closeup...

I loved this kit so much that I actually used it to create two other layouts for an assignment that I can't show you quite yet, but I can't wait to share!

Have a great Wednesday!

Feeling Beachy

Hi everyone, Nancy here today to share with you a project made with the beautiful August kit, All Gussied Up.

Cool blues and purples mix beautifully with the warm yellows and browns in this kit; and bits of the Studio Calico mist sprinkled on the white cardstock and accented with jewels add interest to the background.
I love the fun stickers from Pink Paislee that are included in this kit as well as the fun frames.  And I cut one of the papers into an interesting lace design using my Cricut.  That shape coupled with the fun Bazzill borders add some fun shapes to my page.
There is still plenty of time to join us in our August card and sketch challenges.

6x12" Smiles!

Hey ALL! I've gotten so much out of this month's kit! It's a little nuts. The next layout I want to share with yall is a 6x12" fella. In my scrapbooks, I have a lot of kinda goofy page protectors. Including 6x12" ones that are perfect for some of the single photos that I really want to stand out. This one definitely stands out!

To create some depth, I pulled out the white mist we got in our kits a few months back and i tore the edge of the paper instead of using my paper trimmer. To create the splotches of spray (any spray), I typically spray a few pumps of the liquid into the cap of the container. Then I can "control" where the dots end up and even how big they are to a certain extent. I prefer this method to droppers (hated having to pull out/change/clean another part), flicking (i was bad at it in general), or trying to get the spray pump to create this effect (never really worked). Try it out with any spray you happen to have OR the wonderful sunshine yellow spray found in the August2012 kit!

I finished up my journaling with my trusty label maker. Hands down a MUST HAVE on my desk. I use it infinitely! I really like how it "grounds" this photo on this layout!

As a side note, I really want brownies right now! lol. I should get to bed, huh? take care!

I plan to make a few more of these as I need some thank you cards.
I hope you have a fabulous Friday.....

August cards!

hi everyone, it's Shaunna again!

okay, let me just say first, i am on day 4 of week one of homeschooling and i am exhausted.  hence the late post for today!  i have so much respect for all you ladies out there (and dudes!) that pour your hearts into giving your kids an education at home... i know everyone's been saying it's rough at first, but i'm one of those super-organized-should-have-probably-been-a-teacher-anyway people so i'm doing like Extreme Homeschool over here!  i'm sure we'll get into a groove soon enough, though ;)

anyway, sharing a few cards today that i made with this month's kit.  i just want to say that i really think this kit totally lends itself to cards, with all the different elements... but my partners in crime have made some pretty amazing layouts with it as well, so i've been working on one of my own based on this month's sketch.  be on the lookout for that and a tutorial next week ;)

here's what i have today!  i love these cards!

i especially love the second one!  it's a mini, so tiny and cute, and just a little masculine!

if you really love my cards or any of the other projects from the Design Team this month... you should definitely make your way over to Scrapbooking Supplies R Us ASAP to snag a kit for yourself or pick up any other supplies you might be running out of or wanting for your collection ;)

we've got some exciting things coming up this month and next month - be sure to come back and visit often for the latest Sampler news and inspiration!

back to grading and lesson plans for me!  have a great night -

peace, love and stickers -

Feeling Crabby?

Hi everyone, Nancy here today to share with you a layout I made featuring the cutest little crab I saw while relaxing on the beach in Hawaii.  Not sure what this little guy was up to, but he was skittering all over the sand.

Of course I used my Sampler kit for this one.  I love the mix of patterns in this kit. And the cute little cardstock borders......
But, I think my favorite thing has got to be the mist.  Not only did I use it to color the resist alphabet that was in the kit....
But I also splattered them on my cardstock to add interest. (So easy to do...unscrew the lid and use the wand to flick paint all over your page.)
Don't forget that there are new sketch and card challenges  up here at The Sampler blog...You don't have to use the kit to win some great prizes.

HEY ALL! I have a fun altered project to share today! I have two (relatively) new loves lately. 1. My now 6 month old, Pip and 2. my Cameo! Today I combine those two loves along with this month's fabulous kit! (NO! I didn't diecut the baby! EEK!)

To start I covered my canvas using the super rad tissue paper from the kit. A small amount of a thin glue works best when you're trying to get this stuff smooth and flat. Mod Podge would work just fine, but I personally really like the Claudine Hellmuth Studio Multi-Medium in Matte.

While I let that completely dry (which takes practically no time), I went ahead and cut my files from silhouette studio.

Before I started sticking goodies onto the canvas for good, I adjusted my spacing so i had a good idea where I really wanted things. At this point, i pulled a bit of vintage lace from my stash which I've been hording forever! This is one of the reasons I love working with these kits. Not only are they coordinated and push me to use things I love but maybe wouldn't always pick up on my own, BUT they also encourage me to destash just a little at a time. Which softens the blow, right? :D

After I checked on my spacing, I started the assembly. So, if you haven't already noticed, glue is important to me. I used a variety of glues here. I had mostly wet glues on my desk so that's what I stuck (lol! STUCK! get it? ) with for this project. I used glossy accents to glue "bear" down (YES! you CAN do that!), foam adhesives to pop up "hugs", and Beacon's 3in1 to hold the bow and adorable little bear to the canvas.

 I think she likes it!!!

Hope everyone is enjoying their week and getting a chance to craft for the ones you love (yourself INCLUDED!) sunshine&bunnies, holly*

Bright Sunshiney Day Card....

Happy Friday!
This summer is really flying by. I feel like I just can't soak it in enough and I can't believe I'm back to work next Thursday with a new crop of junior highers. Time just keeps on ticking.

Today I have a card to share, I made it with some of the scraps from a layout I made from the August kit.

I am loving this sunshine this summer, I've cut it numerous times on my Silhouette Cameo. I cut it on white and then stamped it with a Hero Arts Chevron Cling stamp. As always, I finished the card off with some new twine from The Twinery. I LOVE to add twine to my cards.
I hope you get some crafty time in this weekend, and don't forget to check out the August kit, it's a definite winner!

challenge sneak + scrap bonus!

hi everyone!  i finally made it back from the beach :)

had a really great time with my family and got a lot of R&R in... even did a little boogie boarding and sand sculpting!!!

a Totoro i made in the sand!!!

although i didn't get to do any crafting while i was gone, i did make a few things before i left - and the first that i'm going to share with you is a "sneak peek" at what's coming up for this month's card challenge :

this card is simply one of my favorites - even though i was mad about my embossing skills (as usual) at first!  i love this color scheme and hope to get to work with it again soon ;)

i made this tiny little thing out of the scraps from the last card - it measures just 2.75x3.5"!!!  used my Silhouette to cut the hexagons out of the remaining paper, and finished it with the Dear Lizzy stamp included in this month's kit.  i love using up my scraps to stretch my kits!!

hope all is well out here in the crafty world - i had horrible reception pretty much the entire time i was at the beach despite having a 4G Wifi Hotspot and 5 bars of signal on my phone - trying to get access to the Internet or just send text messages became a chore at some point!!  i feel like i was off the grid and missed so much!!!

if you haven't stopped by Scrapbooking Supplies R Us lately to see what's new or pick up one of The Sampler's present or past kits, you should head over there today and check out all the stuff you might need! :)

i'll be back with more next week, until then -

peace, love and stickers -

Davis' monthly layout

I love using The Sampler's kits to create a monthly layout for Davis.  This month's kit was perfect to capture his fourth month.  Now, my sweet boy will be one in a little over a month, so I'm really only 8 months behind on his album. :) I used my cameo to cut out the title banner, the little sun, and the noted tab.

Here are some closeups:

I had fun spraying the tissue paper with the Mister Huey and cutting out hearts to sprinkle around the layout.  Thanks for stopping by, and have a great Wednesday!

Hi everyone, Nancy here today to share with you another project I made using the Summer Camp kit from the Sampler.

These are photos from my youngest's birthday party.  We found this huge beach ball and all the girls had a great time playing with it.  No one had ever seen a beach ball so big.
I love that this kit is packed with so many fun embellishments, washi tape, ribbons, buttons and cute stickers to layer and pop.  And the patterned papers also mix and match so well.

Well, back to work.  Be sure and check out the sketch and card challenges going on now over here.

Layout: Hope Has A Story to Tell...

Happy Friday!
Today I have a layout to share that uses a divided page protector. Last month Shaunna inspired me with her layout that included a page protector, so I had to try it. I had quite a story to tell and wanted to be able to make little "mini" layouts.
Here's a look:

I used the Smash Book binding to hold the protector so you are able to then pull back the protector and read all the journaling on the cards on the back of each little mini layout.

I recently purchased a bracelet from Light Gives Heat and with the bracelet was a card that said, "Hope has a story to tell."
I loved it, and I do think that when life gives you lemons and you are desperately holding onto hope, there is a story within that, and for us, there are many little stories that all add up to one big story.
I'm not quite ready to share it all with the world, but I did want to document it.

If you've never tried a divided page protector, it's one fun adventure and this month's kit gives you the perfect opportunity.
I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

remember that random giveaway???

well i have a WINNER! After flipping a coin and randomly generating a number,

Shoot me an email (holly[at]scrapbookingsuppliesrus[dot]com) with your shipping address as soon as you get a chance!

In other news, we've been kitting like crazy around here getting ready for the Santa Clara, CA Scrapbook Expo. I am looking very forward to this weekend and expo! BUT, it will be great once I get this kitting done and get a chance to enjoy the festivities. In time, right?

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!!

My first August layout

This kit is so much fun, and screams summer!  I was so happy to dive in and get scrapping with it.  This is the first layout I created, using my kids first and last day of school from this year.

I loved the tissue paper, but it had dresses on it, which I didn't want on a layout with my boy. :)  So I scrunched it up and sewed it, and you couldn't tell what the pattern was.  It was perfect to add some texture.  I used my cameo to cut out the title for the page.  Here's a closeup.

Thanks for stopping by.  Happy Wednesday!

A Few Cards

Hi everyone, Nancy here today to share with you a few cards I made with my July kit, Summer Camp, from the Sampler.  I have been having so much fun with this kit and had a few things left over and since I had a few bits and pieces left over I thought to make some cards.  (go easy on me...not much of a card maker).

So many fun elements in this kit that I couldn't let go to waste.  I even used one of the stamps to create the center card.

Don't forget to check out the June challenge winners and a simple little contest for a prize.

A Sunday share

I know the amazing August kits are already up and running, but I still have a couple of layouts I wanted to share that I created with the July kit.  I just adored that kit!  This first layout came together quickly, and I just built it around the diecut "love" title that I cut out on my cameo.

And here's a closeup of the stamped pattern I made on the hearts.  I love how it turned out.

This next layout is so special to me.  I shows my Godson getting baptized.  It was such a special moment, and he was very ready for it.  When Matt held him over the baptismal fountain, he threw himself back which got a huge laugh from all of us.

I just loved that July kit, and I hate that I have used it all up!  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Sunday!
